Children reflect your thoughts

I have talked many times about how children mirror your emotions. It is often way too easy to see how you are feeling when you see yourself reflected in your child's behavior.

Is is important to always clear your self of your fears and frustrations before spending time with your child. Especially when you are trying to teach the some new behavior - like potty training maybe? They pick up quickly when you are nervous or frustrated.

Wow. Yeah...Children and animals are as honest as they can be aren't they? My boyfriends daughter - who is having a problem with potty training [she just turned three].

Few months ago I called her mother to arrange when we were to get together for the hand off. Her mother was in an "angy mood" over daughters behavior.

So within 30 seconds after the hand off, daughter is clutching my leg and Mommy drives off. We take a walk and she pottied right there standing up...less than five minutes after being handed off.

It was absolutely my feeling that the child was scared to let an already angry mommy know she had to go to the bathroom before they left. I said to the daughter as she pottied right there through her shorts onto the gravel, "Well hold your feet out so you don't get it on your shoes!" LoL
