Christmas Time With Your Child
Christmas Time
Christmas time is here. Lights are being strung on rooftops. Trees are being decorated, and shoppers are all looking for that special gift for that special someone.
I know that many of you are busy and it is easy to get caught up in the hurry hurry lifestyle during this time of year.
However, I want you to focus on slowing your pace. Take time to enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells of Christmas.
Watch your child take delight in all the wonders of Christmas. Help your child experience Christmas in a fun loving way. You also need to experience Christmas in the same way as your child.
Look at Christmas through the eyes of your child. For this is the time of year that we celebrate the birth of a child who was born many years ago. This child was God’s gift to us. A gift like no other. For this child would grow up to be the Savior of the world.
So sit down with your child and read the beautiful story found in the Bible. It is in the second chapter of the Gospel of Luke. As you read this wonderful story of Jesus, our Savior, take time to reflect upon all the Christmas memories you have. Then be thankful for God’s gift of Jesus. Also be thankful you can share this story with your child.
As the song says:
"Jesus loves me,
This I know.
For the Bible tells me so.
Little ones to him belong,
They are weak,
But He is strong."
